Career Summary

Steve has had a varied career in both the Royal Air Force and BAE Systems, covering a range of HR and Personnel roles.

Steve started his career in the Royal Air Force where he attained the rank of Junior Non-Commissioned officer in the Personnel Administration branch of the Royal Air Force. He also gained High Level Security Clearance and was employed on highly sensitive material. Throughout his time in the RAF, he covered a variety of Personnel roles, particularly around employee support and engagement.

After leaving the Royal Air Force, Steve joined BAE Systems in Saudi Arabia, initially working in HR as a Personnel Officer with specific responsibility for Resource Planning and Recruitment, including the development of an Induction Programme and also Exit Interview process. He then moved into a HR Business Partner role, providing day-to-day support to Line Managers in a range of HR/Personnel related activities, from People Management issues, Resourcing and Recruitment solutions and Management Information.

On promotion to HR & Support Services Manager, Steve then took responsibility for providing a whole range of services to both Line Managers and also to the Expatriate workforce, including their dependants. Key areas that Steve looked at was supporting and developing Line Managers through all HR Management processes, including the development of HR Workshops. He also supported a major Manpower Reduction programme, Sub-Contractor performance management, whilst also becoming an active Board member of the Saudi Arabian International Schools Group, helping to support the development of a number of Schools supporting British, American and International curriculums.

Steve then moved to the Headquarters of BAE in Saudi Arabia as HR Manager (Organisation and Resourcing) responsible for developing a team of local employees in Manpower Planning and Recruitment practices, including an in-house capability for testing, scoring and assessing candidates. He also developed a Graduate Recruitment programme, from initial “Brand” through to placement. In addition, he also led the development of a Kingdom-wide Induction programme for local employees joining the business.

On return to the UK in 2007, Steve was responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of an out-placed Resourcing service with a major RPO and the performance management of the out placed transactional HR Service. He also looked after all HRIS Systems and was responsible for all aspects of Data Integrity, including the development of Working Time Directive and Sickness/Absence policies and processes. Steve moved to the Military Aircraft business in 2011 as the Resource Manager for the Aircraft Maintenance Function, responsible for the management of all resource planning across a number of sites and the development of recruitment solutions from Apprentices through to Senior Executive positions within an Aircraft Maintenance environment. In 2013, he returned to Saudi Arabia as the Support Services Manager, responsible for all Life Support solutions for an expatriate workforce. In 2015, Steve took advantage of a Redundancy programme to take some time out to catch up with a growing number of grand-children and embark on a new career as a HR Consultant in Lancashire, specialising in both Resourcing/Recruitment and Generalist HR Matters.
